The main game this week saw the top of the table and 100% record Tomb Army take on last season's champions the Clar Karond Corsairs. A game of speed versus brawn.
Clar Karond Corsairs vs Tomb Army 1-1
The game lived up to its billing as a clash of 2 heavy weights. The Corsairs used their speed and agility to keep themselves away from the mummies, who had caused so much devastation this season. Early on saw the Corsairs slice through the defensive line and despite a last ditch effort from the army, they secured the first score of the game. The rest of the half saw the Corsiars slow down the army and deny them an equaliser.
The second half began with the Tomb army slowly driving upfield. This time the Corsairs struggled to break the defensive line Having to risk getting in close and being hit by the mummies. Eventually the army forced the gap to get themselves on the scoreboard. With a few turns remaining the Corsair head coach was confident he had enough time to secure the win. However a simple failure to pick the ball up, even using the last team re-roll (two 1s) put paid to that as the army were able to pummel the Corsair line. With victory gone the Corsairs managed to secure the ball and stay out of harm's way.
A good hard fought game between two good teams
